Workshops
Musical Improv
You’ve seen Empire perform, now it’s your turn. Our workshops will teach you to nail song structure, build strong narratives, and give off that New York CONFIDENCE, baby! We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced workshops, as well as full-day intensives for those who want a more rigorous experience. We recommend all students have prior improv experience.
Long Form Improv
Want to kick it old school? Our instructors also teach non-musical improv. Depending on who visits your theatre, we are happy to teach a variety of forms including the slacker, harold, montage, monoscene, movie, dream, and more. We also offer courses to hone specific skillsets such as slowing it down with grounded scenework, creating characters, hitting game, mastering group games, and more! Our instructors are happy to work with you and tailor the curriculum to best serve your theatre community.
Hip Hop Improv
Hip hop is one of the most popular music genres in the world, so why wouldn’t you include freestyle rapping in your musical improv repertoire? NYC battle champ Katy Berry will teach you how to strengthen your freestyle abilities, drop hooks, and incorporate hip hop into your shows with confidence. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes are available. We recommend all students have prior improv experience.
On-Camera Workshops
Depending on cast availability (Patrick Noth), we offer on-camera workshops so actors can use their improvisation skills to nail their auditions and enhance their scene work for film and television.
